Where it is in space

About 1°SSE of the 4th magnitude star GSC 3990:2431 in the constellation of Cepheus.
It is in the plane of the Milky Way


Remote session using Splashtop control from Ravenshead, UK.
Exposures:R:G:B 10 x 10 min each .
Narrowband exposures: Ha, SII and OIII 18 x 20 min each.

All sub-exposures
-25°C. All images binned 1x1.
Mainly automated sessions using Sequence Generator Pro (SGP).


  What it is

A star forming region within our Milky Way galaxy. Thought to be related to the Cep OB1 association then it is probably located in the Perseus arm of our Galaxy. If this is true, then it is probably more than 10-12,000 light years away and around 250 light-years in diameter.

All data reduction with CCDStack. Lum, RGB masters and RGB colour combine prepared in CCDStack.

Narrowband master combine created in PhotoShop in the HSO = RGB false colour scheme.
RGB master used for star colouring only.
